European Mile – walking in beautiful nature during summer vacation

Another great European Mile event was held last weekend in Koprivnica, Croatia.  Our young participants from partner institutions working with children and persons with intelectual disabilities played, competed and donated miles towards a good cause. More than houndred children, young people and their families, caregivers and others participated in the outdoor fields of „Ivan Kušek Apaš“ Koprivnica and Ješkovo lake.

The European Mile is a free event celebrating the joy of moving again at your own pace – by running, walking or rolling a mile.

People from all walks of life can join one of the physical or virtual European Mile events, or donate their moved miles in support of selected grassroots sport or physical activity initiatives. For the European Mile, we consider the iconic distance 1.6 kilometres to be our key metric. But we also know there are many different mile distances, so we encourage you to #FindYourMile!

Anyone can register an event or even join in with a self-organised activity. Participants simply share their run, walk or roll with the hashtag #FindYourMile to take part – every MOVE counts!

The event took place alongside project Special Power League – sports league for children with disabilities. The activities were various: from camping and building up tents, to traditional sport games and activities and lots of other fun activities.

Participant also had a workshop with clay and even cooked dinner in nature. The activities were organized in collaboration with Sport association “Veliko srce” from Koprivnica, Association “Latice” and other local organizations.
