MAMANET is a team ball game based on the rules of volleyball and takes place on a court of identical dimensions as in volleyball (9×18 m) with the basic difference that in mamanet players must catch the ball instead of the classic bounce. This allows mothers of all ages with little or no experience in team sports to participate. The mamanet sports team consists of 14 players and 1 coach.
Mamanet is the largest socio-sports program in Israel aimed specifically at mothers. It was founded in 2005 and has since expanded to thousands of players across the country. It is a unique and innovative model that challenges existing women’s status and combines sport, health and community participation. The Mamanet program accepts a wide range of women from all over the world, regardless of age, race, religion, weight or physical condition, emotional state and socioeconomic background. The uniqueness of the model lies in its stable existence during the life cycle of female players, from youth to pregnancy, birth, changes in marital status, employment, health and more.
