Organized by the Croatian Teqball Association and the Health Life Academy, a presentation of the increasingly popular world sport – teqball – was held on the auxiliary field of the “Aldo Drosina” stadium. Namely, it is a sport that is a combination of football and table tennis. It is played individually or in pairs with a soccer ball (head or foot) over a curved ping-pong table and due to its imagination and adaptability it is accessible to people of all ages, as well as people with disabilities or developmental difficulties.
On that occasion, the General Secretary of the Croatian Teqball Association, Max Dimov, donated a professional teqball table to the Uljanik Football Club. The presentation was attended by HLA General secretary Dario Jagić and Project coordinator Kristian Batelić, and players from the IFK Maryland club led by coach Davor Dvanajščak. Cooperation has also been established with NK Uljanik, where teqball sections will be established, which will in the future compete through the Croatian championships at world competitions.
The organizers also announced that the World Urban Teqball series will be held in the Pula Arena from September 23 to 25 this year. The finals of this cup will be broadcast by Eurosport, and the arrival of the legend of French football – Robert Pires, has been announced as one of the main guests that September weekend.
One of the promoters of this increasingly widespread sport is the former president of the Croatian Football Association Davor Šuker, who once donated teqball tables to all first division teams, and which most often serves as a basis for warming up before training. Teqball is played with various parts of the body – head, chest, back, shoulders, thighs and lower legs. Each player or team is entitled to three contact with the ball before it is transferred, but must not use the same body part twice in a row.
