Wow! This expression describes perfectly what happened this weekend in Split, we spent two days full of entertainment, sport and beautiful moments. There is no better combination than sunny weather, beautiful Adriatic coast and sport weekends and we are really happy these circumstances occurred just in time to fulfill everything for our 10th edition of the Special Power League (SPL).
Friday has been just an introduction for the whole weekend, and we wanted to enrich our well known event. In the late afternoon, our SPL teams had a chance to play handball matches with our Olympic gold medalist Petar Metličić, who was representing RK Balić&Metličić and the head coach of the Croatian Handball Team Hrvoje Horvat.
After the award ceremony, we headed onto a football field where our partners and friends from the American Football club Sea Wolves Split demonstrated the unique charm of American football which is becoming more and more popular in Europe. All the participants had a chance to try the equipment and get a feeling how it is to play this attractive sport. Special thanks to Croatian handball coach Hrvoje Horvat, RK Balić&Metličić, RK Petason Vranjic, Rukometni klub “Split”, Split Sea Wolves, Cheerleading Club „Noa“ and NK Omladinac Vranjic for making Friday such a great introduction for SPL.
The day after, on Saturday we moved to the iconic Poljud Stadium, the home garden of HNK Hajduk Split, the place where all you can see and think about is just football. Our SPL teams played ten matches on two football fields, simultaneously in hot weather conditions. All of them left their heart on the court and we saw what real sportsmanship and respect is all about. Our best part is always at the end, when all the teams become champions, the excitement and happiness is just priceless. We would like thank our host HNK Hajduk, special sections from NK Osijek, NK Istra 1961, NK Sloga Čakovec and NK Slaven Belupo for participating in this event. Special thanks to Mr. Davor Bučević and Mr. Boris Bošnjak from Udruga Sindrom Down 21 who provided everything needed for making this event comfortable for every participant.
This is really what SPL is about, socializing, inclusion, playing sports and having fun and we are proud that Health Life Academy created the foundations for something like this. This is our pride and our joy, we love you all.
